How to Qualify for Bad Credit Car Loan

Acquiring a car loan can be more complicated if you have bad credit. This is because many lending companies strictly require good to excellent credit. Furthermore, you may find that the lowest rates are reserved for those with above average credit.

Hence, if your credit score needs improvement, you may need to take extra steps to improve your chance of getting approved. In this article, let's discuss the steps you can do before applying for a bad credit car loan.

Be realistic. First, you need to objectively evaluate your situation. Do you really need to buy a car at this time? Are you ready to take on your payment obligations to your car loan lender? If you really need to buy a car, what type of vehicle do you have in mind?

If you have to apply for a bad credit car loan, it would be best to keep the loan amount as minimal as possible. Obviously, this isn't the best time to buy your dream car. Choose a car that you can afford and can serve your purpose at the same time.

Consider car dealer financers. There are car dealers that offer bad credit financing at the same time. But you need to be very careful when trying to close a deal as some car dealer financers are known to take advantage of the customer by imposing excessive interest rates and fees. Before you sign up for the loan, be sure to read and understand all the statements in the contract.

Save for down payment. It is very seldom that a dealer will provide bad credit financing without asking for down payment so it's better to be prepared.

Negotiate for a better deal. Some people may not try to negotiate because of their bad credit. But even if your credit score isn't perfect, you are still a customer who deserves fair treatment. Hence, it's always worth the effort to try and negotiate for a better deal. Don't grab the first offer immediately. By taking this extra step, you can significantly reduce your interest rate and monthly loan fees.

Prepare the paperwork. You will be required to submit documents that will prove your capability as a borrower to keep up with your loan payments. Examples of documents that you might be required to submit are copies of your pay slips, driver's license, utility bills, bank statement, car insurance, personal references, etc.

Strengthen your eligibility. Despite having bad credit history, work on your positive points. For instance, bad credit car loan lenders will be looking for stable employment so if you've just recently been hired, you should wait until you are through with the probationary period or you have reached the regular employee status before applying for a car loan.

If you are a tenant who have just moved to a new location and have just began a job at a new company, you're most likely to be considered as a "high risk customer" and therefore, your car loan application may get declined.

Quit Spending On Credit Cards

Credit card borrowers have a few watershed moments on the path to significant credit card debt. The first sign of impending trouble is the month when you don't pay one of your balances in full. Then comes the month when you can't make any payments in full. Finally, the month arrives when you quit trying to pay extra and just resign yourself to making minimums.

The impact on your finances can be dramatic. We're often told to consider the real cost of buying on credit and shown how much interest you'll pay on that purchase. But the assumption that you eventually pay off the credit card debt is too simplistic for people with chronic credit card debt. Because you never pay off the debt and keep revolving it, the cost is essentially infinite.

In this situation, continuing down a path of credit card spending when you have debt is flirting with danger. You can't use credit cards as a way out of the problem if credit card debt is your problem. To use an old clich: if you want to get out of the credit card pit, quit digging.

Would you play a game if you knew the cards were stacked against you? Probably not. But in the credit game, the cards are definitely stacked against you. Here are a few examples:
You pay more for items when you buy with credit. Studies by Dunn & Bradstreet, MIT, and USA Technologies show people will spend 15-100% more for an item with credit.
You buy more per shopping event. McDonalds found that the average order increased by 55% when they started accepting credit.

By splitting the purchasing and payment events, credit card companies and merchants have stacked the cards against you in ways that are nearly impossible to control. They know you'll buy more because you don't have the same visual cues that you have when you pay with cash or debit. The only way you can win is not to play.

So how can you stop? Here are a few tried-and-true techniques that have worked for others:
Destroy all of your cards but the lowest APR card. The safest way to not use them is to simply destroy them. Cut them up or burn them. Use your creativity and vent your frustration on plastic.
Put your lowest-APR card in a safe place for use in emergencies:
o Put it on ice! Freeze your card in a bowl of ice and leave them in the freezer.
o Put it in a safe deposit box. Out of sight, out of mind.
o Put it in a plastic bag or a can and bury it in the ground.
o Give it to someone a family member or friend for safekeeping. Chances are the undesirable experience of explaining to them why you want your cards back will overrule your urge to spend.
o Wrap it in duct tape to make it hard to use in a store.

QuickStart Action:
Come to terms with the real cost of spending and recognize that the costs of relying on credit cards outweighs the convenience, rewards, or any other argument in favor.
Set up a separate checking or prepaid account with a debit card for spending. Fund this from your paycheck or primary checking account or limit your discretionary spending to this account.
Destroy all your cards but one
Put one card away for emergencies
Define what an emergency is for you. Deciding, in advance, what is an emergency and what is not can keep you from reaching for the plastic when the time comes.

Capital One Buys Orchard Bank and HSBC Credit Cards - Orchard Bank Future In Doubt

In recent news Capital One Bank purchased the Orchard Bank Credit Card and all of the US credit cards issued by HSBC bank. The details and exact amounts of this purchase are currently unclear but we are confident that Capital One paid a hefty price.

Orchard bank has a trusted leader and brand in the bad credit credit card market for years. Additionally they have a huge customer base and many current card holders. It is arguably one of the biggest sub prime lending acquisitions.

We believe the acquisition of the Orchard Bank Credit Card is a subsequent result of the mortgage collapse and banking crisis in our country. Just like many local banks were forced to merge with larger banks and thus consolidated our choices of banks to use, we believe the credit card industry is going through the same process.

It is rumored that Capital One is actually going to shut down the Orchard Bank Credit Card. We believe that Capital One has made an aggressive attempt to target individuals with a less-than-perfect credit rating by rolling out a prepaid credit card, secured credit card, and an unsecured credit card for fair credit. This way we think Capital One intends to shrink the market and their brand will fill the void.

One of the most unique features about the Orchard Bank Credit Card was its application process. When you provided your information and your application was processed Orchard Bank would return to you and offer you all the credit cards that you qualified for which included: an unsecured MasterCard, a secured MasterCard, prepaid MasterCard… And then you would choose which credit card was right for your needs.

It certainly appears that Capital One could provide this option to applicants, we hope they do because we have heard many consumers say they appreciate this upfront process. Another concern we have is what alternatives will be left for consumers as the orchard bank secured credit card was one of the most competitive price and best secured credit card offers on the market.

It would report to all three major credit bureaus, charged you a 9.9% APR, and an annual fee of . This compared to unsecured credit cards before the mortgage collapse was a very low priced credit card that would still give you an opportunity to build positive credit. However today we have seen some partially secured credit card offers that we would not recommend to our worst enemies!

These partially secured credit cards require an upfront deposit, the most popular offer we have seen charges an outrageous 36% APR, roughly in upfront fees, and then another in annual fees. Thus, it will be interesting to see what comes of Capital One purchasing the HSBC Orchard Bank Credit Card and if there will continue to be competitively priced secured bad credit card offers available.

As of today and according to both websites it doesn't appear that Orchard Bank or HSBC Credit Cards will continue to be offered. With that said we are by no means executives with Capital One and have no way of knowing for sure, one way or another. Currently at the Orchard Bank website you can still apply for a credit card but from insider information, we have heard Orchard bank is going to stop accepting applications around the end of May.

Getting Home Loan With Bad Credit: The Key To Application Success

When bad credit borrowers are looking to buy a new home, the chances of getting the mortgage they need are much lower than for good credit applicants. That is only to be expected, but the good news is that getting home loans with bad credit is far from being an impossibility. While perfect terms can be ruled out, the opportunity for funding is welcome.

It is common knowledge that securing mortgage approval from traditional lenders, like banks, is difficult but with so many online lenders to choose from, a competitive alternative can be easily sourced. They are also more affordable, with interest rates that are more competitive and more flexible repayment terms.

The fact is that low credit rating is not the deciding factor in any loan application, so getting a home loan comes down to other factors. If these are in good order, then the chances of approval are improved greatly.

What are the Key Areas?

With bad credit ruled out, the areas that are key to the success of an application for a home loan with bad credit are the budget of the applicant, whether a down payment can be made (and how large it is), and the specific terms of the mortgage deal being offered.

Working out the budget is the first step for any applicant, since it will reveal what repayments are affordable, which in turn, directly affects the size of the mortgage affordable. So, securing mortgage approval effectively starts by calculating the size of the existing debt, and comparing it to income.

Once the amount of the excess income is known, an affordable repayment can be calculated, thus revealing the size of the home loan most likely to be secure. What is more, if existing debts are high, there is time to reduce them by before submitting an application.

The Role of the Down Payment

Few people stop to think that a down payment is more significant to a mortgage deal than simply being used to formalize the sale agreement. The fact is that the size of a down payment directly affects the size of the mortgage required. So, if it is large enough then getting a home loan with bad credit is easier.

Basically, if a 5% down payment is made on a home costing 0,000, the size of the required mortgage falls to 2,500, but with a 10% payment just 5,000 is needed. The resulting difference in monthly repayments may only be or so, but that alone can make securing mortgage approval easier. After all, over 30 years, that saving amounts to ,000.

Lenders also like the idea of applicants pledging larger down payments because the financial discipline requires to save that cash is high. That kind of commitment is impressive when it comes to considering granting a home loan.

Get the Right Lender

Finally, the significance of the lender is huge when applying for a home loan with bad credit. This is because the specific terms, fees and late penalties can make the mortgage deal less affordable than was first thought. In fact, the policies set by the lenders often are what swings the deal, so getting the right one is very important.

To that end, approaching online lenders is usually the best way of securing mortgage approval, and the fact they are known to charge more competitive interest rates means they offer the most affordable home loan options - as long as the criteria and conditions are met, of course.

Still, always check the reputation of an online lender in the Better Business Bureau website before signing any loan contract.

Mortgage Loans For People With Bad Credit Have Higher Approval Rates

Applying for loans used to come down to a simple case of having a good enough income to make the repayments. Bad credit was something that damaged approval chances due to the increase of risk applicants with bad credit posed. But now, bad credit does not have such a negative impact, with mortgage loans for people with bad credit commonly available.

Despite the increased risk, applying for bad credit mortgage loans is possible because there are lenders who specialize in such financial issues and offset risks these loans come with. This may mean higher interest rates being paid, but crucially bad credit history does not leave the applicant hopeless.

Then reality is that credit ratings relate to past facts and not to the current situation that a borrower may be in. So, mortgage approval with bad credit is available, despite the perceived risks that are associated with such large loans granted to bad credit borrowers.

The Significance of the Debt-To-Income Ratio

An application for mortgage loans for people with bad credit is not necessarily based on bad credit history, but is mostly based on the debt-to-income ratio. The ratio is a summary of the amount of debts the applicant has accumulated before making the application. So, even if applicants are carrying the burden of bad credit, their mortgage is still possible because of the dept-to-income ratio is at a health level - usually lower than 40:60.

Take for example two applicants - the first with good credit and the second with bad credit - who apply for a bad credit mortgage loan. The first has good credit but may have too many debts to be comfortably able to handle any more. Lenders will reject his application. The second, on the other hand, has a bad credit score but little existing debt. Lenders approve his application because he has sufficient excess income to cover the repayments comfortably.

The debt-to-income ratio is the key element when seeking mortgage approval with bad credit. A person looking who cannot deal with the financial responsibility, regardless of their credit rating, will lose out.

The Advantages of Bad Credit Mortgages

Although these loans come with high interest rated and other poor terms, mortgage loans for people with bad credit have their advantages. One of the chief advantages is that it provides the borrower with a chance to improve their financial status and credit rating - as long as they make repayments for the bad credit mortgage loan consistently and on time.

As a result, getting approval on loans with bad credit in the future will be less difficult. Not only that, but the interest rate applied and general terms improve as the credit score improves, as well as the ability to negotiate with the lender for more flexible special terms when seeking mortgage approval with bad credit.

Online vs Traditional Lenders

When finding a lender, the first target for a mortgage loan for people with bad credit are usually traditional lenders, like banks. But though they are easy to access, they are the least accommodating, with the strictest terms and conditions anyone can expect. The fact is that approvals of bad credit mortgage loans are quite low, making it not the ideal option.

However, online lenders are much more accommodating to bad credit applicants, and provide mortgage approval with bad credit more readily than traditional banks. In fact, these types of loans are a specialty of lenders online, so the interest rate is extremely competitive.

Though getting a mortgage loan for people with bad credit is generally more difficult that getting a loan with excellent credit ratings, approval is certainly possible if aspects other than the credit score are favorable.

Bad Credit Home Loan Options Can Include An Fha Loan

The real estate sector was once the pride of the lending institutions, with generous offers made available to practically everyone. The idea was to increase their revenue from home loans, but as we all know now, that plan backfired and has left the economy reeling since. That fact has not removed the need for home loans, but given the financial realities today, bad credit home loans have become more common.

With the events of the past few years, there are now less options open to those seeking to have home loans approved despite bad credit. Many of the institutions took such serious hits, they are now gone, while others no longer have the resources to make for sound lending at all.

When it comes to finding a loan to purchase a home, it is now considered a wise option to turn to the Federal Housing Authority, or FHA, and seek a loan from them. In light of the fact that the regular lenders got so much wrong in recent years, there is certainly a peace of mind that comes with the FHA association.

Advantages of FHA Loans

For those who are not aware, the FHA offers a high level of security to home buyers by providing assurance over the stability of their associate lenders. The security is provided through the government backing that its bad credit home loans receive, with the fact that FHA loans are only issued by approved lenders with that government guarantee.

The principal reason that this level of security is considered so valuable is that it lowers the risk that lenders have to face. This then helps to build their confidence, which in turn helps to relax some of the terms of any loans, ultimately making it easier to get home loans approved despite bad credit.

There are no prizes for stating that getting a loan to purchase a home is not simple under any circumstances, what with the sheer size of the investment. So it can only be good news to learn the FHA loans are available at all.

Government Guarantee

In truth, the value of government approval is huge in the financial sector, so to have the Government provide a guarantee to bad credit home loans is a huge boost to the lending industry as a whole. The backing provided relates quite literally to the provision of a guarantor for any loans. So, should the borrower fail to may repayments, and default on the loan, the government will buy back the loan from the lender at the existing market rate.

Of course, the benefit for those seeking to buy a home is to have a reliable source from which to get home loans approved despite bad credit. It therefore increases the numbers of people able to get a loan to purchase a home, which can slowly rejuvinate the housing sector.

Other Options

Despite such an ideal situation, it is still possible to see an application for bad credit home loans rejected. There are, after all, criteria that need to be met before any loans are granted. It is worth considering other options, such as refinancing an existing home loan.

After years of repaying a loan, and with the fact that interest rates have fallen, there is some scope available with which to refinance the loan and save money. When attempts to get a home loan approved, despite bad credit fail, this is clearly a worthwhile option.

Of course, this is not available to first time buyers, making it necessary to get a loan to purchase a home. Shopping around can ensure the best possible is found, but there can be no doubting that bad credit home loans from FHA approved lenders are amongst one of the better options available.

These systems impose an additional security level where customers have to enter an additional their selected password during the purchase. So make sure you have a good anti-fraud system in place when starting your online business.

Advantages of a Home Equity Line of Credit

In the mid 1990s, home equity loans became hugely popular and once they did, it wasn't long before home equity lines of credit weren't too far behind. These lines of credit differed from the loans because they offer small amounts of money over a longer period of time to be used for whatever you need, whenever you need it.

They became popular because of certain advantages they have in comparison to other mechanisms for consumers to borrow money, specifically credit cards or personal loans. The benefits of home equity lines of credit are mainly centered around taxes and your interest rate.

Today, this form of revolving credit is still widely popular, and for many of the same reasons as they were when the HELOC boom first started.

Advantages of Home Equity Lines of Credit

(1) Tax deductibility
You can deduct the interest you pay on the home equity line of credit. There are certain conditions that apply that usually pertain to the maximum amount of the line of credit and deductibility. The interest on credit cards or for a car loan is not tax deductible. Usually you can deduct the interest you pay on your home equity line of credit up to 0,000 of the amount you borrowed. But, that 0,000 amount can be increased if you use the additional money for improvements to your home. For more details talk to your bank or tax professional.

(2) Lower interest rate
Home equity lines of credit usually offer lower interest rates than traditional credit cards and car loans. The reason for the lower rate is that the credit is based by your asset, your home. Since it is a secured loan, whereas credit debt is unsecured, they can offer lower interest rates. This rate is usually below the Prime rate.

(3) Safety net
Home equity lines of credit offer a safety net for home owners. Since they are like credit cards in that they are credit available to you for whatever purpose you deem fit, it is accessible to you if a major purchase or emergency arises. And once you've been approved for your home equity line of credit, you'll be fully prepared when that emergency does rise. No waiting for the paperwork to go through on a second mortgage, or waiting for that credit card to arrive in the mail. Because you've set yourself up ahead of time with a home equity line of credit, you're ready for whatever life has to throw your way.
There are certain necessities in life: food/water, shelter and to pay taxes. Food and water do not offer tax deductibility and applying for a loan to pay for them won't either. But your shelter, your home, can. Remember to always try to make your money stretch and work for you. One way to do that is to take advantage of the many benefits that come with a home equity line of credit all of which let you borrow money at a much lower rate and save you more money over any other type of loan!

Get Bad Credit Car Loans

You are looking for a vehicle and when you check your credit history it reports bad credit. A credit score under 600 is not considered to be good. Borrowers of this category are taken as risk among the lenders and lenders are reluctant in helping these people out. However, with time things have changed and there are a number of lenders these days that are ready to sponsor the needs of people with bad credit.

Let us see the basic qualification criteria and what your options available with these loans are.

Before applying for these loans

Before you go ahead with these loans you should get a copy of your credit report and check it thoroughly .There are times that you can find errors in your report and by getting these errors corrected your credit score can improve and you can qualify for a better interest rate.

When you take a auto loan you are required to make a down payment. The thumb of the rule is that more the amount of down payment lower would be the interest rate .So try and arrange for a down payment that is bigger in amount. Try to finance at least 7-10% of the loan amount through the down payment.

Make sure that you compare the price offered by at least 3-4 lenders so that you have an idea as to what rates you are being offered and what is the best deal that you can get. Do not just compare the interest rate on the loan. Make sure that you also compare the terms of the loan.

Before you apply for these loans make sure that your payments towards the other credits is made on time. When the lender checks your credit report they would see that you have been making the payments on time and this would add a positive effect to your loan application.

What should you be aware of?

When you take a bad credit auto loan it is advised that you look out for the terms of the loan. The loan is usually distributed over a period of 3-5 years. Make sure that the term that you get on the loan is not too strict and you would be able to pay off the loan on time.

Look at the interest rates and the other costs associated with the loan. There are a number of costs that come along with the bad credit auto loans. Make sure that you ask the lender about the other costs also .It is better to compare the APR on the loan that would give you the total cost so that you can assess how much would you pay on an annual basis towards the loan.

If you are adding payment protection insurance along with the loan then be aware that the cost of the loan will rise. However, this factor can protect you in case you are unable to meet the payment for a few months because of some reason.

What are the available options?

When applying for the bad credit auto loans you can have three different options available.

* Conventional lenders: These are the usual lenders that give out these loans. They charge an interest slightly higher than that available to people with good credit .Qualifying for this loan would be easy if you have maintained a good payment schedule over the past few months.

* Credit Unions: If you are a member of a credit union then it is advised that you take the help of union. These can be affordable and help you in getting the vehicle.

* Auto dealer: The dealer from whom you take the vehicle can provide you with an option for the finance. The dealers are in touch with a number of lenders and provide finance regardless of the credit score to their customers. However, this can prove to be an expensive deal. Hence it is advised that you opt for this type of finance only if there is no other option available.

Home Loans With Bad Credit: Easy Steps To Improving Your Approval Chances

Applying for home loans with bad credit is supposed to be a futile exercise, with rejection a practical guarantee. But in fact, there are lenders willing to grant mortgages so long as the application is strong enough, and the important boxes are all ticked.

Formulating an application that can meet the basic requirements can take some time and effort, but the outcome makes it all worthwhile. Getting the application in proper order is the best route to securing mortgage approval - though it should be pointed out that different lenders can have different criteria.

Nevertheless, a home loan can be secured confidently if a few key areas are dealt with in advance. In fact, focusing on satisfying these few points is generally the secret to getting the green light.

What Are The Basic Criteria?

It is essential that the basic criteria is met before anything else. Without these boxes ticked, the mortgage provider will not even consider the rest of the application. This stands for anyone seeking a mortgage, not just a home loan with bad credit. And admittedly, this only qualifies the applicant for consideration, not eventual approval.

The criteria is the same as for any loan, with applicants needing to be over 18, to be a US citizen (or have legal long-term residency), and to be in full-time employment for at least 6 months. These are the first steps to securing mortgage approval, but other factors are key to that outcome.

Understand, for example, that the chances of securing approval on a home loan are dependent on an ability to make the required repayments. And this, in turn, is dependent on establishing affordability, which is related to income level and the debt-to-income ratio that all lenders adhere to.

Making The Mortgage Affordable

As mentioned, when applying for a home loan with bad credit, affordability is the key. The debt-to-income ratio effectively establishes the limit to what is affordable to an applicant. Its 40:60 rate means that no more than 40% of excess income can be used for repayments. For example, with ,000 to spare, repayments cannot be more than 0.

But there are some ways to increase the affordability of the mortgage. For example, making a large down payment plays a big part in securing mortgage approval. This is because the size of the required mortgage is lowered, thus making monthly payments and the overall debt lower.

Another move that can see the affordability of the home loan increase is to agree a longer term. So, instead of a 25-year mortgage, seek a 35 or 40-year one. This can see monthly repayments fall by at least 0 per month. However, the overall cost increases because more interest was paid.

Options Worth Considering

Finding the right lender is just as important as accurately calculating an affordable mortgage repayment sum. When seeking a home loan with bad credit, it is perhaps more important. Searching online allows for faster results, with the comparison sites available helping to find the best deals within seconds.

What is more, securing mortgage approval is made easier as the terms that favor your specific situation can be identified too. Online lenders tend to offer the best deals, while also offering the fastest approval terms.

Still, be sure to contact any online lenders directly and to check them out on the Better Business Bureau website. It is the surest way of ensuring the best home loan deal is as good at it seems, and vastly reduces the chances of being taken advantage of.

The Five Best Credit Card Perks You Might Forget To Use

If you are like most people, when you apply for a credit card, you tend to concentrate on its most obvious features: rate, rewards, credit line and the like. While these are all important issues that you should evaluate carefully before you choose a new card, they are not the only factors to consider. Many credit cards probably even some you already own include several very helpful features that many people forget to ever use.

# 1: Purchase Protection

Many credit cards today include a purchase protection program, which is exactly what it sounds like a short-term warranty on most items you buy. A purchase protection program will generally apply for 90 days from the date that you buy a new item, although the exact period can vary from one card company to another. If, during that time, your purchase breaks or is stolen, the credit card company will refund you its purchase price, up to ,000 from MasterCard and American Express and 0 from Visa. Make sure you examine the policy detail of each card you are considering, since they can sometimes vary considerably.

# 2: Warranty Extensions

In addition to the short-term coverage offered by the purchase protection program, many credit cards also include an actual extension of the original manufacturer's warranty for many purchases. This extension will generally not apply to certain items, such as cars and other motorized vehicles; for the items to which it does apply, however, it will generally double the coverage period of the original warranty, up to one year.

# 3: Online Discounts

Virtually every major credit card company has an online shopping portal that you can access by logging on to their official web site. This shopping portal will provide often significant discounts on purchases you make from a wide variety of major retailers.

# 4: Rental Car Damage Coverage

Car rental companies will generally offer you short-term coverage to ensure that you are not held liable for any damage if you get into an accident will driving a rented vehicle. However, with most credit cards, you already have this coverage automatically. The card will pay you back for your out-of-pocket expenses if you find yourself in this type of situation, including the deductible from your personal car insurance as well as any towing, administrative and other costs the rental company may charge you. The details of these programs will vary from card to card as well, such as the rental period that is covered and how any personal belongings lost or stolen are handled.

# 5: Luggage Reimbursement

You can also file a claim for the total cost of your luggage if it is lost or damaged while you are traveling by almost any means besides a car. Again, the specific details will vary from credit card to credit card; most major cards will limit the total amount they will cover to about ,000 per trip, and most will only cover the difference between the value of your luggage and any reimbursement you receive from the travel company.

Of course, no perk is sufficient reason on its own to apply for a credit card you do not need, or will not be able to use responsibly. If, however, you genuinely do need the card, choosing one that offers the best possible perks and then taking full advantage of them is only common sense.
